Cities [ Deutsch Dansk Español Français Italiano ]

This part of the website provides high spatial resolution imagery collected over Africa's major cities by Earth Observation satellites. It aims to stimulate students and teachers' curiosity by allowing them to look at these images and try and find their home town or maybe even their school. Schools are invited to work with this data by following the suggestions contained in projects. Case studies given below may be of further guidance and inspiration.
 Resources
Image Gallery  One can select images derived from various sensor acquisitions, different wavelengths/bands (visible, infrared, microwave) and spatial resolution (ranging from 30 m to 1m pixel size - in some cases). Images can be then displayed for visual comparison and also downloaded.  [ Deutsch Dansk Español Français Italiano ]
 Projects
My city as seen from space You are asked to complete a project based on satellite views of a region in Africa of interest to you. The objective is to produce an illustrated report for your teacher, your school or for submission for publication. A copy could even be sent to us for inclusion on the web site! [ Deutsch Dansk Español Français Italiano ]
