| This area provides high spatial resolution imagery collected by Earth Observation satellites and relating to the major cities in the Himalaya region. Its aim is to stimulate the curiosity of students and teachers, encouraging them to look at these images and identify their home-town and maybe even their school. Schools are invited to work with this data, following the suggestions contained in projects. Case studies given below can be of further guidance and inspiration.
The many case studies on Kathmandu focus on the Kathmandu Valley in general, the urban development of the city over the last 28 years and the problem of urban detection. Many different working methods and aspects of satellite data interpretation are explained in the case studies. These can be used to work with all of the images provided in the Resources section.
Take your time and enjoy the fascination of satellite images.
